Amblyeleotris wheeleri has a variety of common names including Wheeler's, Gorgeous, and Burgundy Watchman or Shrimp Goby. It has broad red bands and small blue speckles. There are a number species of Watchman or Shrimp Gobies that live symbiotically with Alpheus shrimps which are almost blind. The shrimps dig burrows which they share with the gobies. The gobies keep watch for predators. The shrimps maintain contact with the gobies via their long feelers.
