Chromodoris tinctoria (Ruppell & Leuckart, 1828) Chromodoris reticulata (Quoy & Gaimard, 1832)

Chromodoris tinctoria

sub-classs Opisthobranchia > order Nudibranchia > sub-order Doridina > family Chromodorididae

Chromodoris tinctoria, and Chromodoris reticulata are very similar species. Common features are a white mantle with variable red reticulate marings and a yellow/orange marginal band. SeaSlugForum refers only to the single species C.tinctoria. NudiPixel and "UnderSea Jewels" refer to two species where C.reticulata is a larger animal with more numerous gills.
