The mountainous pillow sponge, Spirastrella moniformis, is a large yellow sponge which is common at Julian rocks. The surfaces of the near vertical sides are quite lumpy, whilst the concave top surface is smoother. Fish and other animals are often found perched on the top surfaces of these sponges.
